  • Simple maintenance: A log home needs very little maintenance. Internally, the log walls are maintenance free. It will simply require a coat of clear UV protection every 2-3 years to protect it and maintain the lustre of the log.
  • Easy to install: Because they are easy to install, they cause little disruption on site.
  • Energy efficient: Log homes are energy-efficient and excellent at retaining heat and conserving energy. This is due to the logs’ natural insulation and their natural temperature control properties. You can expect any of these naturally insulated log cabins to stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
  • Adds value to your home: A well-built and well-maintained log home is a great way of adding value to your property. An annexe in the garden would be supplied as a transportable log home, provided it is for a family member it will not require planning permission and in most cases it is exempt from Building regulations and VAT. Any log home outside of the garden will require planning permission.
  • Sustainability: All our logs come from northern Scandinavia, where re-planting to ensure sustainability is a legal requirement.
  • Strength unique to Scandinavian wood: Northern Scandinavia where the climate is cold means that trees grow very slowly. This results in a very strong, close-grained log.
  • Long lasting: Our log homes are made for life and built to last. They come with a full five-year warranty as standard. This can be extended to 25 years.
  • Peace and quiet: Thanks to the same thermal mass that provides energy efficiency, you will be surprised with how quiet a log home is. Ideal to those wanting to relax and enjoy their home.

With a wide range of log cabins for sale from just £58,210, it is easy to see why installing a Norwegian log cabin home on your land is an excellent long-term investment.

There will be many different factors that influence how long your log cabin lasts. These include ongoing maintenance, location/weather conditions, and the materials used to build it.

Simple maintenance contributes towards a longer lifespan of your log cabin. A coat of clear UV protection externally is recommended every 2-3 years.

In terms of materials, at Norwegian Log we only use logs from northern Scandinavia, where the climate is cold and the trees grow slowly. This produces logs that are very strong and close-grained. These characteristics result in log that are inherently stable, not twisting or warping associated with the inferior wood.

When well-looked after, a wooden log cabin will have an indefinite lifespan. Our log cabins are made for life and built to last, requiring very little maintenance. In fact, one of our show homes is over 35 years old.

We manufacture all our residential log homes to the very highest Norwegian standards. Our log cabins come with a 5-year warranty as standard, which can be extended to up to 25 years.

A Norwegian Log fully insulated log home offers comprehensive insulation, ensuring superb comfort and energy efficiency throughout the year. Designed for year-round living, our log homes are constructed to meet the stringent British Standard BS3632:2023 for permanent residences, surpassing the less rigorous EN1647 standard typically applied to holiday homes. This ensures that your home adheres to rigorous specifications covering internal dimensions, doors and windows, roofs, electrical services, insulation, heating, ventilation, cooking facilities, and safety.

BS3632 ensures robust construction, high insulation standards, effective heating and ventilation, safety protocols, and quality materials, ensuring a high quality of living and energy efficiency.

Our fully insulated log homes are crafted using 75 mm logs imported from Norway, guaranteeing superior thermal efficiency, with an added fully insulated cavity and internal log facing to complete the wall structure. Norwegian timber is characterized by its high density and strength, crucial for constructing durable log homes. The cold, harsh climate of Norway results in slow-growing trees, leading to tighter grain and higher density in the wood. This enhances the logs' structural integrity, making them more resistant to warping, cracking, and other forms of degradation over time. These timber logs are among nature’s outstanding natural insulators, and when manufactured and installed with precision, they result in homes that are warm in winter and cool in summer.

The roof and floor insulation exceeds recommended thickness standards, utilizing environmentally-friendly materials that reduce heat loss and promote energy conservation. Norwegian Log’s homes feature premium timber doors and windows, which not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also provide draft-free comfort and security. Every window and door is fitted with high-specification low 'E' double or triple glazing, offering a U value of 1.6 and an insulation rating of A or A+. These features come with a 12-month warranty, ensuring long-lasting performance.

When we talk about insulation, we cannot emphasise enough the importance of our expert craftsmanship. This is evident in every detail, as each home is meticulously designed and constructed by Norwegian Log’s own highly experienced installation teams. This guarantees that every aspect of your home meets the highest standards of quality and comfort.

It's possible to live permanently in a log cabin. When purchasing a separate log cabin that is ancillary to the main house it needs to abide by the rules for creating a permanent home. These are the same for any building regardless of the construction material.

Obtaining a Lawful Development Certificate is the first step, the cabin must meet BS3632 as a mobile home or Building Regulations if it is a permanent structure.

With our vast experience in the industry, we can offer you the advice you need to get the permissions needed to build your ideal log cabin.

All our log cabins homes are available as a complete interior fit-out annex package. This means it can include kitchen, bathroom, electrics, plumbing, providing a home ready for occupation in just weeks from ordering.

Being naturally eco-friendly and cosy in winter and cool in summer, your naturally insulted log cabin home is suitable for year-round use as a permanent residential log home, family annexe or all seasons’ holiday home.

Planning, design, and installation are included, and we can offer bespoke designs to ensure you or anyone in your family have everything they need to live comfortably in our stunning wooden log cabins.
