The ultimate chill out space

Benn Boseley is a very lucky chap. As he sits in his new, solid log garden retreat overlooking rolling countryside, he explains how he felt when he won the stunning contemporary Norwegian Log building as a prize in a Sunday Times competition.

“I was delighted. It was the first time I’d won anything so I thought it was a wind up to begin with. I just couldn’t believe it,” he said. As a The Times subscriber, he’d entered the competition featured in the Home section of the national newspaper but never thought he would actually scoop the prize.

When he shared the good news with his wife Sophie, they knew exactly where they were going to locate their log building. “We were looking for a new house at the time and so asked Norwegian Log if we could delay getting our prize until we’d found somewhere. When we did eventually find our ideal home, it had the perfect spot in the garden for it,” he said.

Whilst waiting for planning permission to extend his new house, Benn’s garden room – no planning required – was delivered by Norwegian Log via the neighbouring field.

“We did talk about using it as an office or a gym for about five minutes, but that didn’t last,” he laughs as he sits next to the smart wooden bar that takes pride of place in the garden room.

As a craftsman himself, who has built with his own hands the bar, wooden seating and coffee table from locally grown sweet chestnut, he knows quality when he sees it.  “When you look at similar buildings on the market, there is just no comparison. They are a bit like glorified sheds compared to Norwegian Log’s buildings,” he said.

“Our garden room is fantastic quality and it looks like it will last forever. We love it and so do our daughters Edie and Libby, family and friends.”

The room is already equipped as the ultimate chill out space, filled with colourful scatter cushions and a drinks fridge. “We’re also planning to install a TV and a stereo. We’re so looking forward to the summer when we can invite everyone round and really make the most of it,” Benn added.
